Jonathan Wolfson is an attorney, husband, father, and debate coach. He coaches debaters around the globe and provides assistance to coaches and parents in training speakers and debaters. His free debate training videos have been viewed by tens of thousands of students and teachers worldwide and he has coached successful junior high, high school, and collegiate speakers and debaters for a number of years.
Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis in 2005 with a degree in Economics. He then served as a policy analyst at the White House Council of Economic Advisers where he focused on health care, tax, energy, environmental, and labor policy.
Following his time at the White House, Jonathan attended the University of Virginia School of Law. While at Virginia, he was the Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board and also won awards in moot court competition. Jonathan graduated from UVA Law in 2010 and was awarded the Olin Prize in Law & Economics for his paper on married women's labor participation.
Jonathan and his wife then moved to New Orleans where he was the head coach for New Orleans Science & Mathematics Academy's (SciAcademy) debate team and where Jonathan also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edith Brown Clement at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Jonathan is now a trial attorney for McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia where he practices in the areas of products liability, consumer products safety, and appellate litigation.
Jonathan continues to pass on his expertise as an adjunct coach for the Chicago CHARGE Speech and Debate Club, an adviser to debate clubs, and through teaching at the Lifelong Communicators' Summer Debate Institute. Jonathan’s goal is to equip students with the skills of communication to be excellent in all they do.
